Why it happens
The tendons on the outside of the elbow become inflamed. It comes from activities that involve gripping while repeatedly twisting the wrist and forearm — not just tennis, but computer work, sewing, and playing instruments too.
How it feels
- Pain on the outside of the elbow
- Tenderness or swelling in the elbow
- Pain in the forearm
- Worse when lifting, bending, or gripping
- Difficulty extending the arm fully
How long it usually lasts
It usually improves with a few weeks of rest, but sometimes lasts over a year.
When to see a doctor
See a doctor if elbow pain continues after at least 2 weeks of rest and self-care.
